At Orehoved Harbour, we have established a modern Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) as part of our commitment to the green transition, a reliable energy supply and future-ready business solutions.
A BESS is a large-scale battery system that functions as an intelligent energy storage facility. The system can store electricity when surplus renewable energy is generated from sources such as wind turbines and solar power, and feed it back into the grid when demand increases. In this way, the facility contributes to a more stable and flexible electricity supply.

Focus on Environment and Safety
Our BESS facility has been developed with careful consideration for both operational reliability and the surrounding environment. It is fully electric, with no emissions, smoke or odours, and has been designed to have a relatively small footprint within the harbour environment. In addition, the facility is finished in neutral colours to blend naturally with its surroundings.
The facility does not generate electricity itself but helps to make more efficient use of renewable energy and reduce pressure on the electricity grid during fluctuations in energy production and demand.
The BESS facility at Orehoved Harbour has an energy storage capacity equivalent to the total daily electricity consumption of more than 600 Danish households.
